A ball of fire engulfed me!
Now that I have your attention, let me suggest that gasoline should never be used to ignite burn piles. I've done this many times before and have always been extremely cautious, but this time I've learned my lesson.
Hurricane Irma left behind a lot of work to do. One of those tasks was cleaning up our yard waste. I piled up 2 damp burn piles of fallen limbs and lit one using gasoline without any problems. At the second burn pile, I strategically added about 3 tablespoons of petrol and stepped away placing the gas can a reasonable distance behind me. Then I lit the stick lighter and BOOM. The house shook and everyone came running to find me singed but not on fire. I looked behind me and the gas can was on fire. I tossed a towel on it hoping to choke it and it burst into flames. Kevan brought me a fire extinguisher and that successfully put that fire out. Since the hurricane had cut our electricity, I ran and crouched under a well hand-pump while Kevan pumped. It soothed the intense burning in my hands and face.
Getting a cheap face peel. Not appealing!
Anne began applying lavender essential oil to my wounds. Samantha and Timothy prayed for me and, what could have been a tumultuous and painful week, was quickly eased as the pain subsided much faster than I could have expected. We slathered the bubbling wounds often with Young Living essential oils and within a week my appearance returned to normalish, minus eyebrows and facial hair. I neglected to oil my shin and ears early on, so that took longer to heal. If you want to know more about oils then Anne is a wealth of information. If you want to know more about the power of prayer, then you can get tips from the Bible.
Many people were left homeless by hurricane Irma and we wanted to help. One family of 7 needed a place to stay until FEMA could help out. We really enjoyed their company and their boys helped me clean yard debris. We had so much fun with them, we wish they could have stayed longer.
Here is a picture of me chopping up a tree in Brooksville with other guys from our church. Duke Energy wasn't going to come until the tree was removed and the people on that street had already waited for a week. Our friend Jason organized several crews to serve the community by cutting up fallen trees.

Please don't forget to pray for our dear friends in Puerto Rico.
Anne's dad died recently and initially she was going to go to the funeral in Australia, but we decided that instead we would go as a family. Anne hasn't been home in over 8 years so we needed to make this a priority. As you can imagine, we don't yet have enough finances to get us there. Would you pray about helping us go to mourn her father and spend Christmas with her family? We intend to visit Coffs Harbour, Sydney, and Adelaide. We will leave Nov 27 and return just in time for a special wedding.
