Puerto Rico Trip

“I can walk!” The man shouted has he set down his cane and started dancing around. He began loudly telling his relatives that prayer had healed his foot.

Praying for Stephano

The day before, Stephano injured his right foot leaving it red and swollen. Because of the pain he had nearly stayed home from a Birthday party. Yet he did come to the beach and sat below the shade of a palm tree right next to our team. Pricilla and Art (my dad) picked up a conversation with him. Stephano explained that he had been needing to hear form God. He reads his Bible regularly, but doesn’t have fellowship with other believers. Our team’s prayers greatly encouraged him. Pricilla anointed him with oil and even gave him a small bottle of Young Living essential oil to take home. He felt amazing after the prayers and tried to stand and upon seeing that the pain was completely gone he danced around shouting and celebrating with us.

Family Outreach Team

My dad and I lead a group of 13 (8 adults and 5 children) on a family outreach from Faith Church to work with Youth With A Mission Puerto Rico (YWAM PR). I was so happy that my beautiful wife, Anne, and 2 children, Timothy and Samantha could also join us on the mission trip. We are very grateful to all who sent in contributions to make this outreach possible.

Evangelism at the park and beach

Our team prepared songs and dramas to assist in evangelism and service. We prayed for the people and government of Puerto Rico. Made food for local homeless, and then distributed the food to them at a local park. We also performed our skits and dances for them and prayed with them. We prayed for all the people we met – in parks, at the beach, in the city - and shared the love of Jesus.

Praying for the police

The team also helped YWAM PR prepare for an evangelism and discipleship youth camp through many works of service. On Wednesday we joined the children of Toa Alta with games, songs, skits, testimonies, dances, and lots of fun.

Dinner with the YWAM Staff

It was also a privilege on Thursday to pray for the staff Wesleyan Academy, started by Priscilla's (our team member) parents 60 years ago, as well as see the church her parents planted and her childhood home. On Sunday, we ministered to the youth at Iglesia Christiana El Sendero de la Cruz.

Visiting Wesleyan Academy

Our children loved serving every opportunity they got, and their presence opened doors for sharing that otherwise would have been closed. They are asking when they can go back!

You kids are in trouble now!

Here is a quick note from an e-mail my dad sent during our travels:
“On Monday, we went on a prayer walk. I got to pray for two policemen and some government education officials. It was great seeing Sean in his element. Tuesday, we did skits, songs and preaching at a homeless shelter. Four of our kids also did a dance! We then helped to serve dinner to 50 plus homeless people. Sean & I prayed for Migual, who recommitted his life to Jesus, and then prayed for a man named David, who gave his life to Jesus! We're on a busy schedule, but the kids and team are doing great.”

The homeless man Miguel had once served with the US Army. He explained that “Being a homeless man in Puerto Rico was far more dangerous than serving in war zones, where your friends have your back.”

Catch a Cat

On Friday a feral cat bit and clawed my unprotected hands (Thank goodness for the healing properties of lavender and frankincense oils.) In Puerto Rico there are many feral cats. In fact, many of the landmark fortresses house hundreds of feral felines. One kitty found a hidey hole in the storage of the YWAM Base. I captured it and we released it where the other kitty’s live.
